New Loom

Well actually new looms, pin looms to be exact. The rest of my tax money went for pin looms from the Blue Butterfly Originals web site. These looms are hard wood cherry or walnut and they look to be made like the original Weave It looms. I of course don't have rhem yet, when I do I'll show pics and let you know what there like and a the good stuff.

A New Toy

I have been using a Singer sewing machine for over the past twenty years. If I remember correctly I bought it at Wal-Mart and fir the most part I found it to work well. With spme miner hick ups now and again.

Well l last year I decided to get a new machine, a Brother to be exact. When I first used it I found it much easier to use. It also has more features than the Singer and it's computerized. I only used it about a half dozen times and the bobbin thread started to jam up on me. I found out that tends to be a problem with these machines. Honestly I thought I was doing something wrong or I just needed to take a hammer to it.

So today I got a new machine a Janome to be percise. It too is a computerised machine, with lots if stitches and accessories. I will say it was a little expensive, close to five hundred but it comes with a guarantee. Since I got it from a reputable dealer (yup I still have a sewing machine shop in my town). It also has some nice features that the other two don't have. I believe I will be very happy with it. I'm sure along the way you will see pictures of things I've made with it. An I of course will let you all know what I think of it.

Library

I just wanted to do a quick post to let you all know how far I have gotten with the library. I have thus far inventoried 510 of my books. Yes I still have books in storage and some in the studio and attack. With all the hussel and bussel of the tenets moving in I haven't had a chance to do anymore. Plus the snow is keeping me from getting the one's at the farm. So it may be a few weeks till I'm done cataloguing what I have. Let alone any new ones I get until then.

Shuttles

I just wanted to do a guick post. To let you all know I got my shuttles yesterday. They were waiting for me when I got home from work. I of course had to play before I went to bed. I put the winder together and filled a couple of bobbins. It works really well, then I did a uneducated move. I shot the springs put of the shuttles. I did find them and put them back in place. If not the bobbins could fall out and I certainly don't want that.

I haven't used the shuttles tham selves yet. I haven't been home long enough to work at the loom. So hopefully I will have time over the weekend or on Monday to play around. So much fun so little time to enjoy it.

Farm Show

Yesterday was our annual trek to the farm show. We had a wonderful time, on the way out we stop at a little place on old 22 called Esther's. It's been there for quit a will and is a well known stop for truckers. After breakfast we finish the trek to the show. We end up staying for about 9 hours, which is a long day.

The grand championship for the sheep to shawl went to Time Warp for the fourth consecutive year and there shawl auctioned for over $2000.00. After that auction it was time for the fleece auction. I was able to pick up 4 nice fleeces. Before the auction I made some new friends, we discussed wool and the finest of some fleeces. That was fun and a rewarding experience, that I hope one day will be expanded upon. That was this year's farm show in a nutshell. It'll be a couple of week's until our next adventure.

Happy New Year

Well the New Year has started and I just found out that my brother-in-law and wife are moving back with us on a more permanent basis. May the year be filled with fun.
Ed and I have not changed any of our plans for the house or the farm. The complete opposite, if anything this is motivating us to do them.
I found out yesterday afternoon that my shuttles and stuff won't be in for up to 14 days. That sucks, they said they became totally sold out of them during Christmas. If nothing else at least I'll be getting them. Better late then never I suppose.
To everyone have a Happy and Safe New Year's day.
